Investing secrets from a Wall Street veteran

By: Kelly Korshak

For more than two decades, I spent my time designing software for some of the biggest Wall Street institutions. I’ve seen firsthand how companies like Morgan Stanley and Deutsche Bank pour millions of dollars into developing strategies to beat the market. All with the goal of getting optimal returns for high-net-worth investors.

But what Wall Street doesn’t want you to know is that many of their investing strategies can actually be utilized by individuals. Because if you want to beat the market, you have to think like a Wall Street professional.

Here are some of the most important investing secrets I’ve learned throughout my years on Wall Street, and how you can utilize them to grow your own wealth.

Time the market for better returns

Most financial advisors suggest a buy and hold strategy for long term investing. That’s because over the long run the market tends to go higher. This makes a buy and hold a seemingly obvious decision for individual investors.

But Wall Street doesn’t just buy and hold. Instead, professionals look to time the market at opportune times. They get in and out of the market when signals point to volatility and changes in investor sentiment. This strategy isn’t trading, and instead, requires identifying the most opportune times to enter and exit positions.

The biggest benefit of timing the market is getting out of the harm’s way before the market declines and entering back in before prices rise again. But successful market timing requires accounting for many economic and financial indicators. These data points help investors identify windows where the market is likely to move in one direction or another.

Focus on wealth protection

While individual investors are focused on capturing the market’s upside, professionals worry just as much, if not more about how to protect their portfolios. That’s because professionals know that avoiding the market’s worst days of the year is more important for performance than being invested in the market during its best days of the year.

Investors who use a buy and hold strategy aren’t thinking about protection. They are only worried about when the market might go higher. But, if you can time the market (like we previously discussed), you can move your portfolio to cash ahead of recessions or market downturns. Doing so can give you a better chance of outperforming the market.

So the next time you find yourself focused on when the market will rise again, sit down and consider how you are protecting your wealth.

Use advanced technology

While it might seem that Wall Street investors are always ahead of the market, they aren’t relying on their skills alone. Instead, they utilize advanced technologies to help them analyze the market and anticipate what may happen next.

In fact, one of the main differences between individuals and professionals is access to technology. Whether they are exploring the benefits of artificial intelligence, constantly tweaking their algorithms, or automating their investments, professionals have access to so many tools at their fingertips.

But Wall Street technology is a black box to most individuals. No one really knows how these companies design infrastructure to help them beat the market. Fortunately, I’m one of the lucky people who has designed these professional-grade tools. Now, I want to share these technologies and resources with as many individual investors as possible.

Now you can invest like the pros

In my years building tools for Wall Street institutions I realized that many of the same technologies they were using could be accessible to individual investors. So, I ditched the corporate world in search of creating technologies that would help anyone beat the market.

This is why I co-founded iFlip, the premier automated investing platform backed by A.I. iFlip is designed to make investing simple for individuals while protecting their wealth and beating the market.

Using our technologies, we’ve created SmartFolios: automated baskets of stocks and ETFs actively managed by A.I. to stay ahead of the market. Once a SmartFolio is chosen, our A.I. and proprietary algorithms analyze your positions daily and use the collected information to make investment decisions in your best interest.

While A.I. investing might seem new to the general public, iFlip has been at the forefront of this revolutionary technology for years. During the three latest market downturns, iFlip users have saved significant money when compared to the S&P 500.

A.I. investing might sound complex, but thanks to our built-in automation, it’s so simple anyone can do it. In just 10 minutes, users can create an account, enter their information, make a deposit, and start investing on the platform. This means anyone, from experienced investors to novices can get started right away.

What’s even better is that iFlip users get professional-grade technology at one low monthly fee. There’s no complicated fee structures or hidden costs. In fact, you can get an iFlip subscription for the same price as your favorite streaming service.
